I thought it is a Freikorps Badge, but got the info that it is a crewman badge of U-Boat 255. Any more infos and opinions about it?

Possible as you say to be associated with 255. Looks like the exact design for that boat's emblem.
According to the book"U-boat emblems of World War II" the cap emblems were shipyard productions, and this one sure looks like it was not hammered out on a uboat, but, were in red and white, later in three colored enamels.
Since the boat survived, maybe these badges did too and this is one in some version.
