        Hi Hasse,

Although rather uncommen the Fo U-boat also was made with a vertical pin. The bade you posted, apart from a replacement pin, does look promissing but the be absolutely sure I would need to see better pics.

              circular default

It does not show on my pictures but my badge bears exactly the same circular stamp on the left edge,a factory default?

I have to agree, it does look like a copy. MM wrong, please do a check on this MM in this forum and you will see the problem. John

Trident and mrg are corect, although these U-boats exist with vertical pins the one you posted is given away by the mm as a copy. Should have payed more attention.

Agree with the guys, this one is definately a fake. On these what I first look for is the ribbon tie at the bottom of the wreath on the front, if you compare the two you can notice a marked difference in relief.

Also if you are new to collecting I would recommend you stay away from Manions. Only for the experienced collectors and even then!!!!
                        Regards, Rob

                          wreath

Rob is correct in that the wreath is a quick spot, the fakes have a much more defined relief than the real badges. Also applies to the L/56 that Rob just posted if you look back a thread or two. Smooth wreath.

Also, from my own personal experiences it is best if you are new, do the research on your own in this forum, there is a lot of data here, that is how you really learn since the data base is so extensive on each of what really is a limited number of basic KM type badges. Naturally the makers increase the universe of badges, but you will get the idea. You must learn to really enjoy the research since that is a big part of the hobby at least for me.

Try, after doing your own research and you want to discuss the item you are thinking about, just post it here first and we will try to help, then you must decide.

Do not get pressured into buying anything too quickly if at all possible until you are confident that you are making the best judgement call on that item, usually too late after you buy the thing.

This applies to any source of the badge, including estand if you have a question. If you lose it since somebody else got before you, so what?

If you got burned on this badge, do not worry, join the club.

                          John
