    Auxillary Cruiser Badge

Here is another one. Over the years this one has always given me a bad feeling. Not sure why. Is it any good.
    Thanks

          Hello Mike,
Your badge looks like an original, made by Rudolf Souval of Vienna. The color and wear of the gold wash looks believable, but I do not like the black coloring to the globe nor to the reverse. The excessive amount of grinding/sanding marks on the reverse is unusual too. I'm thinking that the badge was probably marked with the large 'R.S.' logo on the reverse of the viking ship, and that someone intentionally ground it off, thinking that R.S. marked badges are fake. I would try to remove that black coloring from the badge.
          Best regards! Tom

My guess is Souval also. But whether it's wartime or postwar, I'm not sure. (I'm not at home right now and cannot compare it with my examples of both types.)

              Hi Tom and George,

When I bought the badge the back seemed to be covered in black soot. Dont know what it was exactly but I wiped most away with a cloth. I will have a closer look. Thanks for your comments.

                Hi Mike,

i agree with Tom, looks like an original RS to me but somebody messed with it. The wreath color IMO is original but al the rest was repainted. Well worth trying to remove the paint and who knows with a little luck you might be able t see remains of the RS logo.

Well that e-boat for sure was repainted. As far as I'm concerned this is how the original RS finish should look.
