    a waste of time?

I just picked up an e-boat badge 2nd model schwerin berlin at an antique dealers... the problem is the swastika has been broken off.... i paid $50 cdn for it so i'm not worried about the cost... the question is " should i even be looking at an item like this"... my thinking was if i have a damaged one it's better than none at all... any comments?

I think an original damaged or denazified one for 50.00 is good. If you find a nicer one later you have not spent much. best wishes,

It is better than none at all -- if it's a good piece. Can you post pics?

$50 is a very good price for the badge if it is original.

              Hello Jim,
I agree with the others. As long as the badge is original, you can't go wrong for that price. Post some pictures if you can.
              Best regards! Tom

Thanks Tom.... I'm fairly new to German military collecting and I haven't always made the best buys so it's nice to use knowledge from this site to pick something up that's right... thanks again Jim

                        new

                        Jim,

You are already ahead of the game. You found this forum, your first badge is real at least and you did not pay much for it.

Many of us started out just the opposite, the badge was not real and we paid a lot for it!!!!

Since you are new, the advice is not new around here--and it is for free. That is, get a detailed photo of the badge you are thinking about, study the threads about that badge on the forum to educate yourself a bit, then post it here for opinions if you want, then decide if you want it.

Never get pressured into buying anything, and always do your research first. There is always another badge so there should not be any rush to the wallet.

You can avoid a lot of problems this way since this hobby is complex these days.

Welcome to the forum, enjoy the research at least as much as the item, and you will be fine.

                        John
