      Just a straight flatbed.
Apparantly any over the series 1600 will do this sort of scanning.

Hi Guys thanks for the extra pics, very nice award Skip much appreciated .
A question is the back very shiny in appearance? The one I saw seemed to have a bronzish appearance to both front and back but what i know to look for was there but the colouration gave me doubts, been looking for one of these for awhile now and i want the quest to be over. All the best

Reverse is more of a matt gold look. Front also with polished highlights.

Frank, you are a wise guy
Gotta admit these scans look better than the others and hey! at least I can spell Epson now

BTW, great badge Skip, don't think I have had the pleasure of seeing it before

To add to this thread...I saw a zinc Mayer, with the type of pin and hinge you see on the "26" marked EK1s, and with a round catch base-plate and flatwire catch...the maker mark on the pin looked like a tower to a castle,--which confused me, but everything else was correct--I passed on the piece, but I should have picked it up.

Also...it was not the die you see on the marked L/18 zinc Mayers, but rather the tomback Mayers...which I thought was pretty scarce.

                  u-boot Mayer

                  Hya,

Silly question but is this maker deemed as the best / most prestigious / rarest one pls ?
To me, it is the most beautifull & agressive looking bird on the U-boot badges...

                  thanks,
                  yves

Hi Yves...I think they have one of the nicest detailed eagles, and you can see the "waves" to the flag.
