Is there any special literature regarding submarine badges and such anyone could recomend. I'm new to this, but am gonna focus om submarine related items. Need to do my homework

Yes, this is the book to wait for. Now if you want to learn something besides the badge side of the hobby, I would recommend Jak. P. Mallman Showell's "U-boats under the Swastika" as one of the best references, and for emblems, Georg Hogel's "U-boat Emblems of world War II 1939-1945".

Well just thought I mention it. This is really how I got into the whole thing with collectiong WWII submarine materials. Have a look at the www.subcommittee.com homepage. Pretty intresting stuff.

There is an excellent German book written by a former U-Boat man which concerns the conning tower insignia painted on most all the U-boats.
It has many sketches of each known insignia for most all the submarines.
If interested I'll go home and get it and post title,author,etc...

I can't wait until Gordon's book comes out, I might end up buying two of them because I will probably wear out the first copy.

Another great book just came out by Gordn Williamson, last year (hardback and it is from Ospery) and I think it is called Wolf Pack. I am at work and don't have a copy handy, so I am sorry if I got the title wrong. I will check when I get home.

Michael Tuckers book from Windimore press on Heer and Kriegsmarine badges of the 3rd Reich is also of a great help as well as Detlev's price guide.

Angolias 3 volume series from Bender publishing (out of print) on the Kreigsmarine is also a must.

It will not help you with insignia, but Iron Coffins by Herbert Werner is a must read.
