Hi Robert,
Looks like a nice tombak Mayer example. Value I'll leave to someone else - probably a minimum of US$200 as apart from the bend in the pin it looks like a nice example.

Yep, I agree with Mike--Mayer catch, tombak. This is almost certainly a worn example and very nice. Pin bent by the sailor I would think to fit into the Mayer catch.
I would research the various dealers for tombak MS badges and at least you know the high end.
