E Boat 1st pattern

Kai Winkler has a 1st pattern e boat maker mark O on his site. Item# 24765. Are these thought to be original or is there a lot of controversy over it? Is this a known reproduction or one of those you either believe in it or not? Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Looks to be an original by S&L, however I do not really like the gold finish. Might have had some enhancement work done somewhere along the line.
