    U boat - Schwerin - Torpedoed?

As long as there seems to be a string of uboats going on I thought I would put mine up and see if it gets torpedoed. The photo's are pretty accurate although there is more gilding present than shows, especially at the stern and bottom of the wreath. Thanks for your observations. Richard

I don't care for this one. Eagle is wrong and from what I see of the makermark also bad. Best wishes,

Unfortunately I have to give this one a thumbs down. This looks to me like the famous "no propeller" Schwering fake that Manions has been selling for years.

        Just my .02

        Cheers,
        Greg

Thanks for the observations and especially the photogaph. I guess I had better go on patrol. Richard.

                    U-boat

                    Hi Richard,
Well I will add to what others are saying, that is a bad bird. That fake is rather old and has been around a long time (I remember seeing it over 15 years ago). I am surprised I have not seen more of them pop up.
                    Regards,
                    Jody

I'm afraid this one is destined for the bottom of the ocean, well sunk!

What do you mean good? That one is just GREAT, the best I have seen.

One last question, are you...you know...saling it?

                          Regards

                            Richard,

I would venture a cast from an original unmarked badge (originally thought to be Hymmen-like, now possibly early Deumer) with a bogus Schwerin stamp put on it. Either way, nothing like an original Schwerin badge.

The reverse looks like it had some file work done, possibly to file down the sprue holes.

                            Here's an original:
