    Hi,
I have taken pics of my clasp to compare. I have faith that mine is correct. I dont have the large bubbling but mine does have the sand gritty look when held close with a loop. I hope this helps.

The clasp has what I call zink pest to the reverse but that would be expected. I am sure that the pits are from zink pest.

Jody, I wish your pics were better but from what I can see I think your badge is bad. I think the detail is lacking on the front and as another member has pointed out the back has some problems as well, especially the rounded edges.
            best wishes,
            jeff

                HI Jody:

I have found that the fake sub clasps are either one of two types, either the fake tomback versions or zinc pieces cast from real examples...the fake tomback pieces are the correct size but made from new dies going back to maybe the 1980's and have the wrong lettering etc...and the fake zincers have the correct details but the size is small...if you look in Tucker's book you will also see an example with poor detailing to the feet..I also think that step in the pin is a thing you like to see...do you have measurements in mm for your example?

                    Hello Jody,

I'm affraid that I've had a similar one and the oppinions on that one wasn't exactly positive...maybe this link can help Your judgement - ie. comparing measurements and detials: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=99679

                    Cheers,

                      Hello Carsten,
I believe that is it, the pin is identical. I can't measure my clasp for it is packed up and will be returned. BTW, the sword blades on both copies are identical as well.
                      Thank you,
                      Jody

                        U-boat Clasp

                        Hello,
I want to thank everyone with their time and effort. If anyone sees a nice bronze or silver U-boat claps for sale, please let me know.

As this shows, you really have to be up on your toes for one of these and you have to look at more then just the lettering.

I hope Tim will be able to get a refund on his clasp.
                        Thank you,
                        Jody

I have to agree with those that say this clasp is not good. I do not like the missing feet, that pin is without a doubt not correct as well, and I also do not like the look of the sub itself on this one.

The lettering looks good but weak, which would be consistant of a cast copy.
