S-boot abz. 1. pattern + Auxiliary abz. - Just in!

    Hello everyone

Today was a good day - got to new KM badges for the collection, a S-bootabz. and a Auxiliary Cruiser. Both badges unfortunatly lack their pin/hinge setup but sure got character, and for 1/3 of the marketprice I can live with it

The S-boot is a first for me but shares all the characteristica (crude) of the one in Niemanns cataloge and the one pictured in Angolias, but would like to hear opinions

    Cheers Thomas

Thomas ... vrey nice. Too bad about the reverses, they would have been real killer pieces intact. Still nice the obverses in a display case

                  Hi Thomas,

Nice pair, nothing wrong with the 1 E-boat, classic worn example. Maybe both of these badges were mounted on a box or plaque at some stage hence the removal of the fixings.

The Aux Cr also an early tombak example, interested to hear what you think about the finish at the bottom of the boat where it is dark and the finish to the globe also.
                  Regards, Rob

                    Hi Rob and Darrel

Thanks for your replies I have seen this deliberate removing of the hinge/pin before on warbadges but can't explain it other way than they maybe lie more stabile in a presentationbox without? I figure that if these where ment for mounting on the lid of box or something, the svastika would have been removed also?

The auxiliary cruiser is a buntmetal, worn I think? The firegilding is really stunning, the pics dosen't do it justice. About the black stuff on the lower parts on the wikingship, I think it is patina/verdigris. Both badges display this feature wich suggest that they have been together for a long time in the same environment. The globe is unfinnished aluminium.

I really like worn badges and shields, for every worn badge of this rarity there is 10 unworn. Maybe my aux was worn by someone on "Atlantis"

                    Cheers Thomas

                      -

                      Schwerin-marked Aux-badges are really rare!!!
