    KM Badges

    Hello:

I've been going through my KM badges and would like to put up two more for review.

First up, what I assume to be an unmarked AS Triangle minesweeper badge. It has the trait of uneven wave height to the sides of the spout.

Secondly, my Hermann Aurich Coastal Artillery Badge.....seemingly textbook.

    Thanks for taking a look.

    Dennis

                Dear Dennis,

There are cast fakes of the Aurich CAB. Yours looks suspicious, can you post better pictures? Especially of the edges, reverse outline, hinge and catch crimp?
                Cheers, Frank

Also not so keen on the Coastal. The area around the hinge crimp looks very suspicious as does the hook. Can you do a close up angled shot of the hinge crimp as it looks to be one piece.

Many thanks Frank and Skip for pointing out this Thanksgiving Turkey of mine.

I took a look at the badge under magnification, and compared the setup to my Aurich IABs / PABs.......and there is NO comparison. This is a cast Aurich setup wannabe (California slang - want to be).

I don't have access to a digital camera at the moment, but I will post one enlarged scan of this dubious cast "hinge crimp" for the benefit of others. You guys were right on the money.

I'm taking this vetting process in good humor and I really do appreciate the help that you and others are giving me.

                    Dennis
