I suspect that the Detlev COA 's are already being forged.

You do see alot of them on MILWEB and other auction sites. Ten pics of the COA and one blurry pic of the item.....

I almost hope this is true, not because I want to see anyone get ripped off but because the forgery of a COA would be clearly illegal and there would be real action taken against the forger. Making a 'museum' copy is not illlegal in most cases but making a 'museum' copy of Detlev's signature sure as hell would be.

would it be a good idea to put them into a gallery?

To what purpose? They are done for a specific item. The only thing a gallery would do is provide fakers with a good place to find examples.

How do you guys store your COAs? I found some nice display cabinets and they look rather handsome in there. I do use latex gloves when handling them.

I wonder how many people in a mad rush on Friday AM's take the time to carefully look over an item before trying to snag it from a certain fellow in Hamburg? ...

GOA / COA or whatever .... depending who makes them and what they are for .... carry alot of pull.

I agree that the buyer should have his ducks in a row and study his quandry before buying, that's only common sense. However, just like the professional collectors here that will buy an item from Detlev without even looking at it ... is to like an uneducated collector wanting an expensive piece without having the time to study the goods as long as he gets his GOA.

COAs are best stored in archival quality Mylar sleeves and stored in a carefully regulated temperature, humidity and pollution controlled environment. They are of value.

The article described on the COAs may be stored in the basement, garage, shed or diaper pail.
