Always open to new information but at present still not convinced that this is a schwerin badge. For this to be true one would have to accept that they had made a second die late in the war to produce these and also that they used a completly different pin hinge and catch set up from all of their other badges even the 1st pattern U-boat clasp.
Another reason this badge is linked to Deumer is that one appeared in a packet, from memory I think it might be shown in Detlevs catalogue.

If you look at all of the Schwerin U-boat badges you can trace a timeline from the early badges with the thin neck to the eagle, round wire catch to the later tombak with the silver rectangular section catch and thicker neck and then to the zinc one shown in the above thread. The only minor difference I have noted is that on some of the later pattern tombak there is a variation where the hinge is turned around to acommodate a shorter silver coloured pin.
The makers mark I am still not sure about I would need to compare with those on some tombak examples I have which I am not able to do at the moment. I have been promising myself to do an article on the Schwerin U-boat badge for some time now, will make an effort to do it and will distribute it for comments before submitting it for post on the site.
As a final thought, if the makers mark were shown to be good, could these badges have been bought in by Schwerin at a late stage to fulfill a supply contract and then just stamped with their mark?
