Hello to you all,
I’m a new member and i’d like to thank you for your hospitality.
I’ve always been fascinated by the handcrafted u-boot traditionsabzeichen. I know it’s a minefield and that’s why i tend to stay away from these things, preferring more canonical objects. But… love is blindness.
So, a few years ago i decided to give this one a chance. No background, no history, but some things have convinced me. Materials, type of work and the patina that does not seem artificial to me. Usually fakes have more known and simple subjects.
It looks like U or V surmounted by an u-boot silhouette (maybe 1.U-flottille before the official enamel badge or 5.U-flottille with a gothic V) and it measures 7,5 cm x 3,2 cm. I looked up Hoegel’s book, but none exactly matched.
Any comment or opinion is really welcome.
