Have you ever seen a badge like this?

Note that it is silver coloured and not gold.

It´s maker marked, but I can´t see what it says.

Many thanks! It´s the same maker for sure, but what about the silver colour?

The badge comes directly from the soldier. Unfortunately he is now dead, so I can´t ask him if he for some reason painted the badge himself, but if that is the case he must have been a real pro, because it doesn´t look handpainted.

Dear Ludwig,

That colour must have been applied at some point in time, it cannot possibly be original to the badge. On the reverse, it has chipped away like applied paint does, "burned on" finish does not behave in that way.
