Hi
I am new to this forum so hope that this post is ok and in the right place!
My father-in-law (Alf Jackson) was a WW2 Desert Rat and picked up this plaque at the top of Halfaya Pass near the Egypt/Libya border in about 1944. He "liberated" it at what was believed to be General Rommel's deserted camp where there were numerous similar plaques wrapped in tissue paper.
Alf was interviewed by History of War magazine and they published his story; I have attached a PDF of the story showing the plaque.
A link to photos of the plaque is here:

The plaque is in original condition and mounting. It looks almost brand new.
I would be interested if anyone else has a plaque that originated from the same location or knows why Rommel (?) would have a supply of them!
Regards and best wishes.
Bryan
