    A “repaired” HJ dagger

    A favourite game of the Hj was throwing their knives into a tree. As you imagine a lot of grip plates got broken this way.
    Here are some pictures showing the HJ throwing their knives and the damage it could do (notice the top one).

    Some years ago I managed to pick up a HJ dagger which was most likely used in some of these games. The grips are replaced (most likely "pre-"wartime) by wooden grips which shows real craftsmanship.

      Who ever replaced the grips with those wooden ones was a true craftsman . I am thinking they were replaced postwar though .

        I would have thought that the grips got broken during one of these games. Some skilled father repaired his son's dagger. Just a thought.
        Why do you think the grips were added postwar?

          It would make since to me as anything displaying a swastika postwar in the public would have been deemed illeagal or inappropriate for public view .

            Hard to say, first time I have seen wooden grips. I have seen many damaged, HJ diamond damaged etc...

              I think we can conclude that it is impossible to say for sure if this dagger was repaired pre-war, wartime or post-war. Fact is that this was done with great craftsmanship.
