    Unknown GAB?

    Hi guys,

Anyone recognize this GAB? Obverse looks like S&L or Assmann but reverse doesn't remind me of either of these makers and looks more like a Vienna maker. Any thoughts here?

    Thanks

    Tom

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

      Hi Tom,

This is a S&L gab with Oval hinge IMO

Here my example in mint condition
Sorry for the photos but I have only my mobile phone, I will do some clos-up

      All the best

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.

Nicolai, good eye, you nailed it as an S&L. I didn't recognize the reverse setup as being S&L as none of the ones I had on file has a "?" catch. Thanks for showing yours, looks like a perfect match.

Its a variant I am missing so will pick it up.

        Thanks!

            Hi Giel,

Not drunk, but a bit hungover which may have been partly to blame.
In all fairness, the obverse pic angle was not the greatest, and I did mention S&L in my first post . Thankfully Nicolai set me straight

                Hi guys,

Well this beauty finally arrived to me, in hand there is not mistaking it as a nice so-called Monster GAB in really pristine condition. Lovely detail and nice quality finish, very happy with this one in the collection and filling a gap next to his other S&L brethren.

Nice S&L Tom, definitely the angle that threw you off there.
These pieces hold their finish very well, here is my example.
