Which is the nicest CCC to search for?

Except for the tombak presentation CCC in gold, which maker’s CCCs are found in the best condition?

Not rarest or nicest design, but with bronzing and silvering in best condition?

    In bronze?
    In silver?

    Many thanks for your advice!

Aluminiun GWL, no doubt about finish, A.G.M.u.K. with blue backplate are also awesome.

Looking for DKiG Heer winner Soldbuch who also won the TDB and/or CCC, specially in Silver.

        Good suggestions!

However you failed to mention that the GWL aluminium badges are also rather pricey. https://militaria-berlin.de/nahkampf...aluminium.html

For Bronze clasps, either AGMuK or JFS tend to hold their finish exceptionally well. Both being from Gablonz, these makers used a combation of high quality zink for the base metal as well as excellent quality, durable finishes that stand the test of time very well.

For Silver, AGMuKs would also be my choice, typically used nice thick silver plating. Some FLL clasps used a brass undercoating under their silver finish, and those examples are very high quality and desirable IMO.

In general, AGMuK clasps tend to be the leader of the pack when it comes to quality and finish.

GWL aluminimum clasps are indeed excellent, but good luck finding one!

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Do some silver AGMuK CCCs also have tombak undercoating as maybe this example?

Yes, I think its certainly possible but hard to see because the bronze finishes the Gablonz makers used stands the test of time very well and can blend in with a good bronze finish. On the silver grade like you show, it would be easier to tell and yours certainly looks that way.

But only tombak at the front?

As I have the impression to see some brass-ish color coming around the left edge of the badge in question and stopping 1 mm beyond it.
And also as the rest of the reverse still looks very corroded (zinc bubbles?)?

I’d like to see a list like that as well.

I tend to think that there is also brass coating on the reverse as well, just harder to see. The way that the finish is bubbling so aggresively on the reverse and the way its flaking off is consistent with silver plating or copper coated layer IMO.

It would be very odd if they only applied the brass coating to the obverse, that would be very hard to do. I think the process would be to dip the entire zink clasp in a copper bath, then add the silver finish.
