    Silver Panzer Assault Badge

    Hi guys,
    This is my first post here and I am looking for some help.
    I have purchased a silver PAB with no maker mark and I would like to know if it is real or not. I did a lot of research and think I have an authentic badge, I just need someone with some more knowledge than me to hopefully confirm this.

    The back is dished and the catch is soldered directly onto the badge.

      Jeff, This is what your badge is. We have until recently called this a so called S&L for Steinhauer & Luck. Having said that I want to point out a few things. First you will note on the reverse that you have a different catch assembly. No big deal I beleive. The thing that concerns me is the softness of the details. Compare yours to mine and you will see what I mean. Perhaps it is the picture that lacks the detail. You will be better able to judge as you are holding the badge.

            Hi Don,
            Thanks for your help (both here and GDC, I believe it was you over there as well). I have had a good look at my badge and it does have the detail the same as yours. Mine is not as minty as yours and does have some wear to it, but the details are discernable.
            I am fairly low tech when it comes to digital images using an old scanner and a low quality digital camera. One day I will invest in a good camera .

            You mentioned that until recently these were referred to as S&L badges, has something changed? Have they been found to be made by other manufacturers? Just curious!

              Yes Don I think you nailed it,that catch bugs me, but overall there are many similarities between the badges

                      Hi Guys,


                      The badge that started this thread is a cast copie of the oval crimp PAB. The obverse looks very convincing but they messed up the crimps and the set-up, which is only logical due to the fact that such crimps are just impossible to copie if you don't have the original tooling. The hinge is soldered on top of the crimp and the bottom crimp doesn't exist at all.

                          It's only quite recently (about 6 months ago)that I first discovered this copy. I tought we discussed it before but just to make sure I'll post some more pics of it as soon as I get home this evening.
