    General Assault Badge, Zinc-for review

I would like to show my General Assault Badge. It is made of zinc and seems to be product of Rudolf Karneth. There is a flow on the right edge of the eagle. Is it done by the manufacturer or appeared later?
Thank you in advance for your comments.

    Hi Klaus,
A very nice looking GAB attributed to RK, which is IMO most likely Karneth. The flaw that I see is not one that I've seen before, just something that occurred during the manufacturing process for this particular badge.

      Hi Klaus,

I can only agree with Dale, a perfectly fine original Karneth with almost all its original silver finish remaining and correct haredware. Nice example.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

            Hi K 54

......For the sake of accuracy I will disagree with the other opinions stated here, that the GAB in question was manufactured by Karneth, because that is all they are....opinions. There seems to be lingering consensus, among some collectors and dealers, about the identity of the company that manufactured this style of GAB. A consensus based on speculation, not evidence. Of course everyone is entitled to render their opinion.

I would like to be able to state affirmatively that these GAB's were made by the aforementioned manufacturer, but until real, solid evidence appears to substantiate such a claim I can only state, at this time, that the manufacturer should remain unknown, until that identity is determined without question.

Something also overlooked is the existing possibility that this style of GAB's were manufactured under the auspices of a consortium of different manufacturers, all of which were most likely based in the Gablonz area. No proof there either, but the possibility exists, based on research and examination of RK marked, and RK attributed but unmarked badges.

Nice looking RK attributed GAB. As noted above this is my opinion.

            Happy collecting!
