    Hi Robin,

looks like a genuine bronze GAB from maker Petz & Lorenz, Unterreichenbach.
Based on the intact finish on the reverse it's clearly a bronze grade.
One can only wonder why these were produced.

      Hi Robin,

I can only agree with Jelle, a fine original Petz & Lorenz GAB that for sure has been finished with a bronze finish. Very nice and uncommon to find.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

              Hi ek c

......As far as rarity, scarcity, uncommon, etc., etc. these badges are nothing but curiosities. There hasn't yet been one shred of evidence that they were ever awarded, condidered for being awarded, or officially sanctioned or commissioned.

They are a highly imaginative take on the issue badges, and despite the wonderment they seem to inspire they are virtually worthless as Third Reich collecitbles.

                Hi Bruce,

You are definitely right, history wise this isn`t much and it only holds some value to the variant collectors. I have seen worn bronze finished(non Assmann makers) pieces and certainly were awarded. But when It comes to the bronze P&L I still have to find a worn one. I am pretty confident that these were an experiment from P&L in case a bronze grade would appear after all, or possibly as an alternative to a shining badge. Finding a worn one will only raise more questions than it answers. We might never find out, but they sure are good looking badges.

                Regards, Job
