    Hello,

    This thread is in no means a thread to convict a certain box maker to a certain award => i believe also that there where different makers for this kind of stuf, but whe can not deny that it is rather odd if we look towards the KB numeral series and that there is some kind of link between them .

    But why do we see no other signs in these boxes then D&B in a oblong box and the KB with numbers ???????
    ( and for what do they stand ??? )

    Are there anywhere other signs that can be found ( and please do not break your case for this thread )??? in cases ?

    It would suprise me if the Germans had not also put this under rules and governement control, etc...

    FRiendly Greetings,

      Small addition:

      Box insert KVK1/swords from Steinhauer & Lück has 621.KB. on the bottom of the insert.

      My Luftwaffe Flakkampfabzeichen box has no numbers or whatever on the insert bottom though definitely an original.

        Visiting a buddy yesterday who was not aware of markings inside cases:

        his EK1 (perhaps we should start defining types: domed lid, round press button) is the all but ubiquitous D & B, numbers as above.

        his KVK1X (flat solid decal on top, rectangular press button): 621 KB. Both with scribbled "piece worker" marks (one a rubber stamp rather than pencil, still just number that I take must have been the worker's code.)

        "621 KB," it is starting to look, used the same box for EK1 and KVK1X: do you other guys who have that maker have the rectangular rather than round press button on the case, and solid featureless or detailed with swastika KVK1 design decal?

          Only two of my cases will share their secrets.

          621 KG - Ambiguous EK / KVK - Square Button - Black Velevt interior

          2597 D&B - EK outline on top - round button - cream interior - signed by 66 - I wonder if he sat next to your guy Mark??

          God, the weather here sucks!

              Hello,

              My EK 1 box ( 621 KB ) maker marked has no button !!!!! ( it is the late war version with no more Button attached ( To spare precious metals for other warfare realted items !!!!!! ) ), white spruhfilz interiour.

              The other : 2420 D& B maker marked EK 1 case => round button , creamcolour interiour , EK outline .

              => actualy i do not knwo if we can translate these numbers towards a specific type of case , it is my opinion that these numbers ( at least the KB numbers !!!! ) are related to a type of award .

                Hi,

                I'm bringing this very interesting old thread up front for a few reasons;

                1) I was away when the original thread was started;
                2) additional info to present;
                3) to ask anyone who has data for a badge/medal that has not previously been posted to add their info - warning - don't pry out the insert if it doesn't already pop out!!;
                4) Any Luftwaffe cases in particular - even if someone else has already posted the data for the same type of badge.

                Aside from variations of the already mentioned EK1 and KVK1 case markings, I can add;

                1939 EK1 SPANGE case - ink stamp 288 on the base, the molded insert with raised 622 KB;

                Food for thought - an early 1957 re-issue EK1 (good quality, magnetic centre) is in a case which, like it's 1939 couterpart, is marked on the insert 621 KB.

                For Rick L - do you remember that "Oceania" engraved 1914EK1? The insert on it's beaten up case does pop out (it's also been reglued at some stage). Real wood was definitely incorporated under the insert, adjacent to the pin slot, back then!

                Regards
                Mike K

                PS: no case was harmed in any way to present this additional data - a representative for the prevention of cruelty to etui was on hand at all times during each examination.
                Regards
                Mike

                  codes in cases

                  Hello,

                  Thanks for the additional info , it is my opinion that the German's used original cases or parts of it that where in stock after the war to assemble the cases for the Model 57 awards.

                  So it is not impossible to find cased model 1957 awards with these or other numbers or complete wartime original cases.

                  Friendly greetings,

                      Let me get my 2 cents in.
                      1) cased EK marker marked 3 with a domed lidwith round push button. On the pop out part is 2597 and the D&B. On the bottom part 2420 and the backward N.
                      2) Cased silver wound badge maker marked 60. 629 KB on the pop out part. This case has no button or latch.
                      3) cased KVK with swords with wood pop out lid marked 3.
                      nothing on either the pop out part or bottom. This case has no button.

                        Reposting archive threads to the new Forums after getting our new server, I've copied this into Crosses and War/Qualification, since it is equally appropriate to both subjects. Please report further crosses data in THAT forum, and the other badges here in this one, OK?

                          621 KB : EK 1 , KVK 1 , Ostvolk awards 1 e class

                          622 KB : Spange EK 1

                          So far for the codes in the KB marked cases, any others one can apply ?

                          I still have to catalogue the D & B numberings => i do not know if there can be found a system in these ?

                            Well I have one that is marked 621 KB. The insert came out with ease (not forced in any way) but the case has a sticker of HAUPTMUNZAMT W I E N III and has a gold wound badge.
