3 TDB in Gold and Silver

Hi all,

For your enjoyment and education
2 Gold and 1 silver.
The two gold seem slightly different and I was wondering if the top one is the earlier gold thread version?

Very nice looking TDB's. Two very rare gold ones together is impressive. I have been on a hunt to just find a silver TDB. Something very special to add to a TR collection.

I have never seen a type 1 tank on a gold badge before on the first example posted. Does anyone have one like this? The other two pieces are one looker originals.

Nice badges! But... I have some serious doubts on the first gold one.

Authentic 1st types tdb in gold did exist but not on the strip and cloth shown here.

The tank is good but the strip and backing cloth are from the so called Austrian type badge which has been shortend on the rear.

A close up of the black stitching and also more contrast would surely help and maybe the the rear of the tank beneath the wool showing the prongs just to rule out that it has not been messed with.

The silver & second gold badge are totally great. But I agree about the backing on the first gold badge....Better pics of the black strips would help. Possible a fake backing was added ???? Tom

More close up pictures with flash
The backing material certainly feels coarser to the touch than the slightly fluffier feel of the other two badges. Also the pins are closer together. Is that a characteristic of the type 1 tank?

Many thanks for all the feedback.

I thought I knew my TDB’s but clearly have a lot to learn.
I guess I will be returning it with heavy heavy heart as on initial pictures where I bought it it seemed like a really nice one.

A miserable feeling Barry. We have all been there at one time or another. The main thing is that you are able to make the return and get your money back. That piece will always have big question marks on it.
