How do you display a CCC without its back plate?

I see many CCC's that have their back plate lost in time. How do you display your CCC with its missing plate? Do you just display it 'as is'? Do you fabricate a new one, just for display purposes? Do you take a paint chip and install it just for display? I'm just curious how others display their CCC's.

If I had one missing a back plate I'd just display it as is

That is what I do as well, I have several in my collection without backplates and they display just as nicely without the backplate. Its really hard to tell there is no plate, especially if the backing is a dark color, you would not even notice it.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

        Definitely display it as is.
In my opinion you should always leave the medals the way they are.

        Kind regards,

To me, the best way to display medals with slight problems is on a tunic. The focus is on the whole ensemble and no one will ever see the backplate is missing.

I agree, for the most part. However, and this is probably considered heresy and may make a few purist upset, I took a different approach to display my Bronze CCC. It is displayed on a glass shelf so there is really nothing highlighting the image the original plate did. I took a Coke Cola red can and cut out a 19mm by 19mm RED square and placed it into the empty square. It fits and BOY does it highlight the eagle, swazie, grenade and bayonet! Since this is a A.G.M. u. K CCC which came with a dark blue plate, my searching has led me to the Labatt's beer can which sure seems to be the same blue. Of course this is only for display purposes but is sure makes the CCC pop!

Haha I would indeed consider it heresy, but hey if it works for you then there is nothing left to say.
But I also am curious, share some pictures of the result if you can.

              Kind regards,

              AW
