Latest Staegemeir Fake - FLL CCC

    Hi guys,

Be careful of this latest CCC fake from our friend Staegemeir. Very nice attempt at a 2nd Pattern FLL fake, type 2.4 in the CCC book. At first glance it looks really book, but the first red flag is the thick, bright silver plating, which is not typical of FLL products, especially their CCCs. The soft details on the obverse are also a give away, especially under such pristine finish. The reverse setup is pretty convincing, but the thick black paint on the backplate is another red flag.

Stay on your toes out there gents, these fakes are sure to fool the unsuspecting collector, especially at shows where the lighting isn't great.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Reverse pics. Notice the punch marks on either side of the backplate, the faker needs to do this because he makes copies of originals which already have the typical crimps on the sides. So he has to make the fake plates smaller to fit into the recess, and then add a punch on either side to keep the plate in there.

That Clown never gives up. When you look at his weekly Auctions on Ebay and his Website, i wonder if really all are that dump. Always everything sells, for always close to Marketvalue or above. 2 Month ago he sold a PLM for 12K on Ebay.
