Haha! These high combat awards don't come in brass or nickel silver, so if you don't collect zink you are shiot out of luck my friend.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

        Hi guys

…...I was initially surprised by the lack of detailing on the center piece(eagle's talons primarily). It just didn't set well with me after seeing so many other 75 GAB's that look so different. As a result it spurred me to do a search on the forum here using 75 GAB as my search parameter. After going back over 10 years I was unable to find a single 75 GAB listed as genuine that had the lack of detail visible on this #GAB which we are debating.

I, too, found that the wreath details don't seem to show any anomalies, but I will also admit that I didn't do a through check because the wreath generally looks good. That isn't surprising since the center piece of these #ed GAB's are stamped separately from the wreath.

As Tom has indicated this badge certainly seems to have all the attributes of having been issued from the factory.....impossible to tell, so it has to remain speculation due to a lack of provenance.

I except the idea of a possible worn die but for me the warning signs are there for all to see in those two photo's....it's far from excepted original quality for such a prestigious award.

Thomas Durante's and Bruce Simcox comments about no known similar examples on file of this poor quality again leads me personally to only one conclusion....Would not touch with a barge pole!

          It's all about opinions!

Looking at the talons it's as if they couldn't get the stippling right so artificial wore them down, not one I would want in my collection.

              Gentlemen
It was a good idea to take a closer look
It amazes me that the faker got ahold of one of these to cast from, see here what looks like casting bubbles.

              Kind regards Chay

If it was cast, wouldn’t the weight & dimensions be off???

                  Possibly,
It will be easy to see the casting evidence if the edge is photographed,
It looks cast in 2d but the edges and recesses need a closer examination, those bubbles look bad, can you shine a bright light on it and photograph the recesses?
It’s best to really have good look

                  Kind regards Chay

                      Good
It’s better to know exactly what your dealing with it will save time and money!
The areas I pointed out should be sharp with no weird casting evidence, but there’s even more area to check. It’s impossible to fake this badge properly.

                      Kind regards Chay

I’ve been told that if it was cast, the weight and dimensions would definitely not match those of an original. Can anyone confirm or refute that information? Please advise.

Thanks Jeff V. Based on Jeff’s feedback, we can conclude the badge is not cast.

                              I hope so,
See post #37 turn the brightness up and look at the bubbles?
                              How does one explain this?

                              Kind regards Chay
