I am no expert on these but the lack of detail on the Adlers feet,Head and Brest feathering would have me worried...totally different from excepted originals.

I am not an expert either : ). However I think that this badge of the beginning of the match, it is ok. But I agree, a clear catch photo would be helpful, and would resolve the doubts expressed in the old thread

I'm not a fan of the finish. The GAB 75 from JFS that I owned had the more yellow color like EMaus's. The original post has more of gold color to it.
Likewise, not an expert. Just an opinion.
It's the same reason I'm not considering the one for sale on the EStand right now.Comment

IMO..the images of the #ed GAB that started this thread, and the images referenced in the linked thread, cause the authenticity of this #ed GAB to be questionable at best. As we sometimes like to say, "The devil is in the details". In the case of this #ed GAB, going by the only available images of this #ed GAB to date, the lack of some pretty important details leave much to be desired.
Honestly, I don't know what the story is behind this #ed GAB. But before I laid any $ out for it I would want to examine it in hand before making a decision. I'm definitely interested to see how it plays out.

Well the dimensions seem to check out as Jeff says, they are in line with what is published in the Heukemes GAB book. The reverse hardware setup and rivets and finish also look very good to me, looks to be legitmate bubbling and rivets are the correct shape and size and material.
The only thing I can fault this example on is the weak detail. Here is a compare of the swastika and talon area from an original that Frank Scholze sold a few months ago. A side by side comparison really shows how soft the edges to the swastika are, and lack of pebbling to the eagles talons is also quite evident. We cannot chalk this up to "wear" because the black finish is completely covering the swastika and talons so it left the factory this way. Is it possible that this is just a bad die strike? Not enough pressure during the die strick could cause these weak features, but would not account for the somewhat pitted look to the surface of the swastika. That rough surface is the sign of a casting IMO, and not a die struck like we see with originals. For sure a red flag with this example. Really an inhand inspection might be the only way to know for sure with htis one.

Has anyone seen a accepted original JFS grade IV that lacks the obverse detail that the OPs example does? Considering the kind of money that is asked for these this is not an example that I would be comfortable having in my collection.

Sometimes we blow up pictures so big and look at them on a giant screen and it looks like horrible detail, when in actuality, in hand this level of detail would hardly be noticeable.Looking for a 30 '06 Chauchat magazine.Comment

Indeed, were is not for the lack of obverse detail this example fits the bill otherwise for being original. I'm sure we can agree that as collectors we all have our own comfort zones. Hell, some of my best friends collect zinc!
