    GAB Friedrich Orth unmarked ?

    Hello Collectors,

I recently picked up this GAB in a trade. Hardware seems to be like the Friedrich Orth marked variants, but I have never seen them unmarked.

Looking forward to hearing your opinions,

    Thanks alot!

I agree with you, it’s an unmarked F.Orth

          Hi guys,

This is indeed an unmarked Frank & Reif, however the hinge and pin are replaced IMO. The catch may be replaced as well, a few more shots of it from different angles will tell us more. That is not the correct hardware for Orth unfortunately.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I agree with Tom. The hardware is incorrect for this maker.

Hmm, Original badge with replaced hardware ? Or a repair using wartime hardware ?

Not wartime hardware, modern replacement IMO.

Looking at it again I think your are 100% right Tom. The catch is definitely not FO style and FO normally has a clean soldering.

However I don`t agree that this is a Frank and Reif. Design is different as well as the cut outs. It was probably repaired by someone who knew what it is....

Notice the original tension foot mark on the back of the badge, and that the new replaced pin hits in a different spot.

Looking at the badge in hand, the hinge does not have a 100% clean fit, as Thomas pointed out in his picture.

Yes definitely and the spot its in indeed also smaller than the original spot. By the markings looks on the hinge it was hand shaped too.
