For all you PAB experts !

    Hi All ,

I have just got through the post a stunning early 1957 PAB in Silver . The finish of the badge is excellent but has me puzzled .

The badge is frosted silver and the leaf edges and leaf veins and also the three vertical stripes on the knot at the bottom have all been burnished .

I have never seen this on a WW2 badge , but if one of you guys knew a maker who did this i would be able to tie it down to a maker .

I also have a General Assault badge where the the top edges of the eagles wings and the bayonet have been burnished to shine while the rest of the badge is frosted .

    Over to you !

Obviously you have not seen very many minty badges from WW2 then Grant.

Lots of makers frosted their badges and then polished the highlights. Mayer is the first one that comes to mind but also AS, F&R, Juncker etc.

Howabout a pic and maybe we can tell more.

        Hi Grant,

I´ve got about 10 different frosted ones with polished highlights.
Afraid I can´t place your PAB to any maker. Its pretty much the "Trabbi" design with a bit more detailed grass. The tank bears a fleeting resemblance to an Assmann or S&L and they definatly made 57 awards. If thats one of theirs I really don´t know.
Maybe one of the others can tell you more.

          Dear Grant,

Do you have more than that one 57 PAB? If yes, would you say their obverse design is 100% identical? Could you post all of them, please? How does that one here look from the reverse side?
          Cheers, Frank
