Hi guys,
managed to add this badge to my collection.
Normally i try to collect them with a bit more character but considering
the rarity of early S&L pab's this was a no brainer.
It has really 100% of the finish intact. It's impossible to make up if this badge is made of tombak or NS. At the first pictures in this thread i'm sure you might think it's tombak, it's really a pain in the ass to photograph badges like this in a correct way because really everything reflects on the badge. The brown tombak colour that you see on the badge is a reflection of my table and light. Hence i post a full frontal picture taken with flash. On that picture you will see there is no trace of tombak, besides the hardware ofcourse
These Steinhauer & Lück panzer badges are really high quality. A beautiful and sharp strike. For sure it's not perfect, looking at the less detailed grass zone and that chunky panzer light. I have seen other S&L pab's where the grass zone is a bit more detailed than on this example. I believe the detail of the grass zone was very faint on the die, and it eroded after some strikes. Can't make up another explanation.
Have a great sunday!
