    Bronze PAB's

Have been studying the search material for the last couple of days, as would like to start collecting these, still can't decide on these if good or fake both seem to have good points, but have never seen one in real life. So I would be grateful if a experianced collector of these could give some advise on these two badges
    Thanks mickey

      Hi Mickey,

The first one is an absolute original buntmetall BH Mayer in bronze. This is still a very early PAB but not THE earliest BH Mayer. The typical so called "Wernstein" set-up was used by BH Mayer for a very short period of time which makes this a desirable variant by this maker.

Here are a couple of it's brothers with the same variant set-up.

The second also is ok, a nice "chaotic grass pattern" early Wurster. Well to start your PAB collection with you for sure found two very nice specimens

                Hi Philippe

glad you could help, seen your name and threads many times over the last few days when trying to study these badges, sometimes you can study them a bit too much and all you start looking for is the bad points, Thanks again for the help

                      Hi David,

It's a bit expensive but on the other hand could you point me towards a dealer in Europe or the US that has a hollow Buntmetall Wurster or for that matter any other early hollow PAB for sale at this moment? You will have a hard time finding one. It's all a question of supply and demand I'm afraid.

No 1 went for $292 also, looks like there could be some EK's going on Estand to pay for them, well I have enough Golf clubs and as you say their only getting harder to find and a new Golf driver is out every month. Well off to play 18 holes as the sun is out

                          Please reference the following link:

                          http://www.wehrmacht-awards.net/foru...ad.php?t=97635

(before being placed on hold the above hollow PAB linked to above was offered at $150 U.S.)

The reason I wanted to point this out is that, in my opinion, there seems to be a level of what I would call 'hysterical' buying evident on the public auction sites that is only fueled by the above statement. The prices quoted from ebay are merely what an uninformed and desperate buying frenzy can contribute to inflationary pricing. I don't believe that supply is that low(I do believe, however that there was a finite # of badges produced), but I do believe that demand could be artificially raised by crying limited availability.

                          Just my opinion.

Looks like you did pretty well Mickey if you were able to secure purchase of the badge offered on the above link. I daresay quite a bit better than you would have fared on ebay.

                              yeah...I agree with John

I almost did that, but I have one like that PAB already. Let's guess... that is a BH Mayer or F&R.

                              regards
