    S&L BKA planchette

Just got this interesting item through, interesting to see the mixture of metals in the zinc.

I'm not all that up to date with this type- has anyone concluded anything regarding strike etc that could separate wartime form postwar?

I recall some post war examples have a die flaw to the reverse which this one doesn't have - are these still maybe/ maybe not pieces?

    Thanks for looking

    Hi Patrick
Skull reference = S&L, the other details of the obverse also refer to war time S&L. Difficult to evaluate. Maybe original pre stamping piece ?

Very hard to determine, IMO, but I like it. Looks interesting.

thanks guys, I have seen a couple of other S&L planchets in the past from different badges and they had this same type of speckles and streaks in the zinc- obviously from mixing together various metal components- end of war factory pick up would be my guess as there would be no reason for this badge to remain unfinished had they produced it after the war
