Close Combat Clasp in Bronze Cellophane Package for Review

    Hi everybody

I have picked up a huge hoard of items and in there was the attached cellophane package and though Thomas Durantes incredible work on the close combat clasp shows that they do make reproductions of this I honestly have no way of being able to tell the difference. Any assistance is appreciated on this matter before I put it out for sale as I wouldnt want to knowingly be selling fakes.

Firstly: I van't help, only waiting for the opinions too. I haven't got, but good to know the difference.
Some years ago on the Stagemeir's site I saw many badges with cellophane bag. I don't know these was good or not, but I was cautious

        Hi Andor

Cautious is good. That is why I posted it to make sure. Hopefully somebody will come forward who has more knowledge

Yes, all these types of bags are fakes, the ones that actually say "Nahkampfspange" on them. The lettering rubs off rather easily and original CCCs don't even fit in these bags, they are too small!

The only good bags are the ones marked with the big LDO logo on the front, these are the ones found with the FLL hoard a few years back.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Here is a Friedrich Linden Close Combat Clasp in original cellophane packet, pictured in, For Führer and Fatherland: Military Awards of the Third Reich, by Angolia, page 100.

The packet has the large LDO logo and the manufacturer code L/61 for Friedrich Linden of Lüdenscheid.

              Best regards,
              Tom

Great info gents. I've never been offered one of those bags, but now I'll have a better idea what to look for.

Dave, that's a great testament to your character. Putting up something for review versus just throwing it up for sale to make a quick buck.
