I just purchased this badge from a long time association member - I’ve read through several threads that indicate Hobachers are known for a sometimes sloppy solder job on the catch - is this just sloppiness or is it a repair? The thin thread you see in the pix is just a piece of thread that was stuck to the badge - it came off easily.

Well, after reading more posts regarding these badges I’ve decided that the catch has been replaced since it’s brass or bronze, and the consensus seems to be that the hardware should all be magnetic. Any comments would be appreciated!
