      OK Guys,
I decided to send the pins back, and here are the reasons..
      1) the skull had very little definition (as opposed to the over all sharpness of detail on the rest of the badge).
      2) the snake (at the 3 o'clock position had no detail what-so-ever).
      3) they both seemed too new looking (ie they just came out of the package). All my other mini badges show some age/wear.
      4) The metal seemed to be of the wrong type ( I would have expected zinc-and they did not appear to be plated).

Yes the knurling seemed correct, but that was the only positive I could find.

Now, I could be totally wrong for sending them back ( and lost out on a good deal ) but the negatives outweighed the positives.
If anyone has a photo of an actual one, I would really like to see it (for future reference).
I do appreciate the help and opinions

      Sincerely Andy B.

I have a silver one on a chain. It is constructed out of zink, with the eylet on the top. Unfortunatly I can not post, if Chris E-mails me I will give him the pic

              Thanks Greg and Chris,

Greg...I have seen yours on your website...very nice . I noticed on yours tho, that there is no skull (as well as the forbidden symbol ). I found that interesting.

Warlord, If you pm me I will be happy to post the pics for you. I am very interested in seeing it.

Interesting chain. I doubt though this is german manufacture.

You are quite right, the group was obtained in Innsbruck. Unfortunatly I missed the full sized pieces and the documents. The family through them away.

Interesting piece. Can you recognize a swastica on the Close Combat Clasp?

I agree with Peter, this is probably not german manufacture.

                        regards,

It is interesting that the silver close combat bar and the silver wound badge are 1957 types.

A similar chain in illustrared in Angolia's "Führer and ..." vol 2 on page 365.
As far as my eyes can tell, the WB on that one is also a model 57. I guess
this puts us back square one

I do not see the relavance of this. The man must have upgraded his awards. He obviously wore the chain, as the fram gave access for it to be taken out.

Relevance . I thought this thread was about presenting pre-45 Bandenkampfabz.-minis and I don't believe this chain has added anything in that direction. Sorry.
