Obviously a lot of wear to this CCC that is why I like it in a nutshell

The 6 dot is one of my favorite makers.
The pin is a replacement but it's definitely been there.

                Thanks for the input mate

How do collectors maintain the Gold/silver wash on these CCC's. Would the application of vasseline asist ?

                  Hi Kyle,

An interesting clasp for sure. The finish has two distinct appearances, the reverse clasp clearly looks like bronze finish. And the obverse in areas has what looks like dark bronze finish, but then in some other areas like the central motif it has what appears as gold finish. Very perplexing.

My gut feeling is that its a bronze grade clasp.

For me 100% a bronze grade. I would love to see how that obverse gold finish holds to aceton.
                        Kind regards,
                        Giel

                          Thanks gents

I have read elsewhere hoe worn bronzers over time give the appearance of gold clasps

Yes, I have found that to be very true, especially with ground dug clasps.

This clasp is not refinished IMO, it is the original finish on the obverse and reverse. But the obverse finish just appears more golden-bronze for some reason. Maybe its a yellowing of the clear protective lacquer that was sometimes applied to CCC finishes. You can see where the finish looks gold in places, but then darker and more bronze, mainly in the center of the oakleaves and recesses, etc.

Here is a true, gold 6-Dot CCC for comparison. Quite a difference compared with the "golden" color we see on the CCC in question.
