    PAB's

    I picked up these PAB's over in Germany while stationed/working there for the Army. They have been in my collection for quite some time now and I'm thinking of selling them to make another buy in my favorite area of FJ. Could you badge guys tell me if they are OK (I'm fairly sure they are but you never know) and what the average prices would be for them. Thanks - Bill

    First up is a heavy unmarked Silver PAB

      2nd PAB is what looks to be a painted Silver hollowback. most of the silver finish is gone but you can see the remains on the reverse side. It is also unmarked

          3rd PAB is solid Bronze maker Frank & Reif STUTTGART

              4th PAB is a solid Silver HA which lost most of it's silver finish.

                    Hi Bill,


                    All 4 of them are ok.

                    1. The first zinc so called Zimmermann PAB still with round catch plate, instead of the later classic oval catchplate and without the die flaw under the turret. Nice to see one with a plated finish.

                    2. Very worn down hollow zink FLL with a set-up that I'm not familiar with

                    3. Zinc F&R possible with replacement catch

                    4. Classic Aurich, with remains of what once was a frosted silver white finish.

                      It's still early here so little correction on number 2, it's not an FLL but a Messing Porsche. The badge is probably ground dug explaining the typical discoloration of the messing. Here is what it would have looked like in better days. The come both with the round wire "C" hook directly soldered to the badge and with a catch sitting on a baseplate

                              Hi Don it's the German term for tombak or yellow copper. This material replaced the early Nickel Silver but not many of them were produced before switching to the use of zinc.
