    Marksmanship Lanyards

Moderators, If this is the incorrect subject area, please move as appropriate.

I would like to ask if the terms Schützenschnur and Schützenabzeichen are interchangeable as related to the various marksmanship lanyards?

Specifically, if at Wehrpass/Soldbuch entry or document shows Schützenabzeichen, is it the lanyard that is being referred to ?

    Thanks
    Mike

Michael, what was the date of issue of the Schützenabzeichen in the Soldbuch?

      Don,

Not a Soldbuch, I just know the abzeichen reference can be found there for example. I have this certificate/document dated 38.

My guess would be it is just a different way of saying the same thing - I had wondered if it might have been for the sewn-on Reishwehr-era marksmanship stripes, but with a 1938 date, it would be for the cord.
