Sure its not an alien?? I will hang way out on a limb and say the mysterious OM, even though I've never seen one of their observer's before.

C'mon. Surely the not the 'unknown maker'! Give us a clue. Show the hinge? Or the catch?

                  Thanks,

I also would say BSW, they made some ugly zink ones at the end of the war
                    Kind regards,

                        the answer

                        Hello,

Well => nobody did answer the correct thing but as said before some of you did raise a interesting name.

This is a badge made by L/58 (maker marked as such) and i already did once read that these type of badges where made for in the years shorty after the war (1946, 47, etc .. ) to supply teh demand from allied soldiers whow anted a souvenir. Iff this is correct or not i do not know.

I must say that whatever the truth is behind this badge that the correct type of Zink was used (could match the story as told) and it would not even suprise me that original die's (for example for the wreath etc ... + mayby for the eagle ? ) where used at some point by the company of R.Souval.

Then we come towards the point => wich die's? Should there be a possibility that the company of Souval did co work or did take over some material from the company of BrĂ¼der Schneider / Wien or a other firma at the end of the war or during the years 1946 and afterwards ?

All comments are once again very welcome.

                        Cordial greetings,

                          further opinions ?

                          Hello,

So we do know now who made this badge => what are your guys observations, etc ... etc ...

For example can we compare parts (such as the wreath, eagle, etc ... ) towards known original Observer badges?

                          Cordial greetings,

Well Stijn, considering its Souval and the wire prongs holding the eagle and the classic post war Souval catch, this is clearly a post war piece for the occupation army. The eagle does not come close to any of the known makers, except (a big) maybe OM, as I said before, I don't know what they look like.

I think you are exactly right about it being zinc and most likely made in the late 40's.

                            Alan
