1943 pattern Heer parachutist badge - original?

    Hello,

I've had this 1943 pattern Army parachutist badge in my collection for many years. I'd appreciate feedback from Forum members regarding its authenticity. I've read the relevant threads on the Forum. The attachment pin is magnetic. Thanks in advance for your expertise.

    Best regards,
    Donovan

    Hi Donovan,

No problems with that one, its a fine original in a sea of fakes. Even the pin is correct, so very good news on all accounts. Lots of fakes out there of this rare badge.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Great news, I appreciate it very much. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

A follow-up question: The badge has a spot of zinc pest. I've read a few threads on the Forum that address this problem, and it sounds like the recommended approach is a light coat of Vasilene, gently wiped on and off. Do you think that's the right treatment for this particular badge?

                Best regards,
                Donovan

                    Beautiful badge

I don't apply vaseline on my badges ever. It lets them turn darker than they actually are. If you live in a dry area zink pest will never occur suddenly, nor expand.
                    Kind regards,
                    Giel
