Looks like the finish on the backside are painted?
        Could it be so?

Ok I thought it looks like some brush marks, could be the light also.

Andy, Deschler clasps have a really rough reverse, with these fine horizontal lines as part of the die, so they are on all clasps. They look like brush strokes but in reality they are just really fine horizontal lines ingrained in the reverse of the clasp.

I have a ccc in gold which I'm quite sure is a fake Deschler but also has the horizontal lines you have described - however the one I have has a fluted pin.The fakers really do pay attention to detail but obviously got the pin wrong or did war time manufactures rely on what was available ?

Here's my fake ccc in gold for comparison . You can see that they have gone to the trouble of copying the lines on the rear. It's a good quality one even down to a blued steel back plate. At least I think the fakers were attempting to copy a Deschler?

Yours may not be fake, as they are typically found with a fluted pin like you mention. Here is one of mine, you can see the same fine striations on the reverse.

Your clasp looks genuine to me and very nice- why do you think fake? Deschler come with fluted pin also.

Ha, seem we are posting at the same time. Now I see that you have posted pics of your clasp. It is 100% original clasp.

Just not sure about the finish, the wear looks odd on the obverse, and it appears that the backplate has been pried up from the reverse bottom, which is always a bad sign. I suspect its been refinished, but regardless its definately an original Deschler CCC.
