It appears to be original but I cannot view the obverse photo.

        Original but damaged.
The hinge has been reattached and the heat from re-solder has damaged the eagle's breast.

The badge is original but the eagles breast is damaged. However the repair does look period to me. If it were done yesterday the repair would be very obvious. Martin.

            Hi

For me it also looks to be an original badge.

However, I am not sure that the front eagle damage was caused by the heat from a repair to the hinge. The damage on the front looks more "mechanical" or "physical" rather than heat damage. I suspect the damage to the front occurred at the same time as the damage to the reverse, and then the hinge may have been attached afterwards.

If possible, it would be nice to see side angled pictures of the hinge area to see how the hinge is attached.

            regards
            Graeme
