It sure looks like gold on my monitor. Having said that I do not believe that is a factory gold finish. It is a modern refinish job IMO.
      Looking for a 30 '06 Chauchat magazine.

Thanks all. Will let some of the others comment on my more recent images before I call it quits on this one. In hand it looks “gold” very similar to the color of the one on the front cover of Antonio’s book regarding APB’s . This is a tuff badge to find in good condition! This is my second attempt!
          Thanks

I agree that the new pics do make it look more gold, however in my opinion its either a bright bronze finish or its a gold finish that is not wartime applied. To me, this is not a typical gold Juncker finish and for that reason I wouldn't want that badge in my collection.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Wise decision, finnish over scratches, as seen on the reverse, is suspect. Next time also have a good look on the pin that keeps the needle in place, to see if theres evidence that it has fresh toolmarks from recent removal.

                  Cheers Thomas

                    Thomas:
correct tool marks are present on the catch, they are not ‘fresh’. Badge is an original type 4 badge, just appears to be re-finished at some time unfortunately.

I agree I would leave that one alone and move on jmo.

It is my opinion too that this type of finish is not something that let me quite, it disturbs me not being matching with known originals.

I think that could be interesting look at the badge under a microscope, maybe some details of a previous finish are still visible.

Thanks Antonio. Already sent badge back to seller. I did post one ‘macroscopic” image in the below thread.
