Looks to be a casting to me. The obverse details are awfully soft on this one. The badge material looks off as well.

I agree with Chet, but some sharper images and/or angled shots of the hardware would greatly aid in a final opinion.

I say it´s verys soft details on this IAB, specially on the eagles head.

My initial thought was a well worn original that had been polished/refinished.

I agree with the guys above it looks like a cast.

Can you conform the crimping is fake too? Are the hinge and catch soldered in?

Even before Tom showed his very good compare ,the appearance and finish showed that this is not how an original should look.

Quite a few of the "jfs" fakes do not get the rifle butt correct and the nice crisp outlines of an original are missing.

It looks like the "raised" area of the hinge crimpin post # 5 looks to have been added during manufacture rather than being a part of the main badge. Can you see if this is the case please Harry?

Good input, thanks everyone. I knew this badge had some issues, so I bought it at a low price. The ball hinge is crimped in, the base seems to be part of the badge. Initially the catch seems to be crimped in, but looking thru a loop I think the while thing is cast in.

Ah well, this one will be going on the bazaar section. Thanks again.
