I can only agree, the badge that started this thread is a nicely made but common fake.

As soon as I was notified of the possibility of it being bad I contacted the 4 individuals who were interested that I couldn't sell it until I was sure.

How so? $225 seems to be the going rate for a Panzer Assault Badge these days. I know that about six to eight years ago people were paying insanely ridiculous prices for Panzer Badges. A friend of mine took four zinc Panzer Badges to the SOS during that time when the Panzer Badge buying frenzy was at its peak. He got $400 a piece for them. But that time has gone. Prices on many of the common items have returned to more reasonable levels over the last several years. I was at a show this past weekend and had two original Panzer Badges for sale: an Assmann and a Rudolf Karneth. The Assmann was $200 and the RK was $225. For two days many people looked at them but no one bought either. Both were nice condition with nothing broken or repaired. I sold a really nice A.S. marked Panzer Badge about five months ago and all I got for it was $200. I find it difficult to get more than $200 for a common Panzer Badge these days. In other words, I don't think Chuck's price of $225 is any indication that he knew the badge was fake and that he was trying to dupe someone. And it certainly was not polite on your part to insinuate such a thing. Original items can be found for reasonable prices and paying an exorbitant amount for a common item is no guarantee of authenticity.
