Fake TDB being sold as original beware!

Hi, I've noticed this what I consider to be an easy to spot fake TDB for sale in their latest update.
It's up for £950 and it says it's on hold so I'm hoping the buyer is a member here and can save their money.

    Jay.

Well, it is not the first time I'm reading negative feedback about Jamie's website ....

Indeed not a first post...and not a first dealer selling TDB fakes!

Of course all dealers make mistakes, we all do, but fake TDB's are pretty easy to spot compared to other Third Reich awards. Even for the untrained eye.

          Hi Jay

......The dealer in discussion has also been known to offer balloon badges as genuine wartime examples. This isn't his first foray into the realm of FAKES, nor will it be his last I'm afraid. With him it is buyer beware. He doesn't exclusively deal in FAKES, but has been known to repeatedly offer them. If you know your stuff, one can find good, material from him as well.

Correct, and that´s the important thing in this very case, IMO!
Cross has been around a long time, and I doubt he really believes in this one!

This quote should be on the tombstone of this hobby. It is how this hobby was ruined, in 14 words. It is the only collection hobby in the world in which fakers are not only not shunned and excommunicated, but welcome among us because "they sometimes have good stuff." RIP militaria collecting, killed by greed and lack of scruples -- on both sides of the table.

                That´s another true statement! Honestly!

But if I should bann every dealer that has ****ed me – deliberately or not – there would be almost no dealer to buy from... Yes, greed has ruined much. Some dealers know that now, and offer 30% reduction on their stuff now and then, and still don´t sell!

A little research is all that is needed to confirm this as fake....Dealers have a responsibility here.

This is hilarious. Militaria is the only hobby that in the world that accepts FAKERS?

Take for example the world of collecting fine art. Or antiques. Antiques from any era. How about autographs? Baseball cards? Barbie dolls? You name it. The FAKES are everywhere. I don't see militaria collecting as unique in accepting, and tolerating, dealers that offer the good and bad.

There are unscrupulous dealers across the board when it comes to collecting anything. There are also dealers that get fooled too. As well as dealers who actually believe in the items they are peddling. It happens.

In all the collecting world the first order of business for any collector is know your stuff. Knowledge is power. Take for example the ancient Roman marketplace saying. Caveat emptor. Still applies.

In our hobby, as in all others, the old adage applies: "don't throw the baby out with the bathwater".

So, is this an deliberate attempt to fraud?
