Some associate this GAB with the maker of the CupAl GAB, I suspect it could be Hammer & Son for a few reasons.

This is a nice original though!

Interesting thought, but where did you find the link between this design and this maker?

This badge maker in particular uses the tiny rectangular base plate that is consistently used for their catches. The sheet metal hinge for the pin is also consistent. Finishes vary from decent silver plating to poor brennlack, but the hardware is remarkably consistent.

I thought these same hardware fingerprints were prevalent on the previously unknown JE Hammer & Son LGAB and some folks found a hoard in packets in the last couple of years. The Hammer LGAB also has consistent hardware and varied finishes.

I have a theory that the "H" marked IAB could also be Hammer, but there's been nothing concrete. The Semi-Hollow zinc IAB's have the same hardware as these GAB's. The earliest version of the "H" uses the same hinge as Juncker and a couple other of the early makers.

                    Just theories at this point.

I believed so far the H marked IAB's could be linked to Hoffstatter.

There is certainly a possibility for Hoffstatter, the only reason I'd lean elsewhere is that their production of EK's isn't exactly massive in terms of numbers available and they seemed to focus on the basic medals/awards.

In reading some other information that is out there about Hoffstädter, they also more or less owned Grossman & Co of Vienna, so that was likely their outlet of combat badges while the mother company in Bonn manufactured the membership badges and basic awards that were stated in a letter in 1940 such as the EKI and EKII, Sudetenland, Anschluss, Long service medals and the three different Hindenburg crosses (of course that latter mentions "many others" so that certainly could lead to other badges). They did make a litany of different membership badges too.

It's definitely an interesting thing to read about.
