    Odd Warbadges in wear

I was leafing through my copy of "Das Kreuz" which has photos of RKT and their badges in wear. Three of them puzzle me and I showcase them here for discussion:

    1) First up - the mirror-mirror problem. First the photo as shown in the book:

Is it me or are the Para badge and Observer Badge facing the wrong way? Wouldn't that be difficult to do? So I checked to see if they just flipped the image, but no because then everything is on the wrong side:

    2) What kind of PAB is this???

    3) Lastly, check out the GAB. What maker is it with such an anorexic GAB? Or did he do a cutout like on some PABs?

    Any thoughts?
    Marc

Also note the guy on top - in the first screwy picture his EK2 ribbon is in the right place on the bar...so it isn't a mirror-image problem.

      Dear Marc,

      My explanations:

      1) Just plain crazy, but somebody will have an explanation. I am sure that guy wore his badges the usual way.

      2) This guy has taken a Schützenschnur Panrer Badge and wore it as a regular one.

      3) That is indeed a REGULARLY produced GAB, the only one with cut out wings. These are hollow, nice to see one in wear!
      Cheers, Frank

          War Badges

          Hello,
Could it be that in the photos (#1 and #2) was re-touched after the war and the badges were added? I have seen this done a lot in some photographs. Just a thought.
          Regards,
          Jody

            Hi Mark,

Great pics, I especialy like the schützenschnur device being worn as a PAB

Well some guys thought cuting out the grass area of you PAB was against regulations. I guess this guy ruined his original PAB by trying to preform a cut-out just before this photo shoot, and probably thought this was a good idea to still look cool on the picture for his mother in law

This is what he's wearing, you have to admit that it looks like a cool cut-out grass PAB on that little pic doesn't it

Nice to see such unusual pics.
The first guy probably had so many awards he just arranged them as asthetically as he could. Thats a hell of a chestfull.

Love the shooting lanyard device as a PAB. Cool!
Also nice to see one of the cutout GABs in wear. Frank has THE example of course.

                Hi Jody.

You present the only plausible explaination, hence the difficulty in attaching them with the reverse facing "obverse" . I believe all three decorations at the bottom are re-touched, check the head of the GAB.

Frank - you will get my doctor bill for occular damage from the glare on that GAB! OK - nice call on the PAB. yes Phillipe - it is cool, and maybe they could have just taken that one instead. I think I like it better than the PAB! But Photo #1 is like the TWILIGHT ZONE!

Check out the loop on the first guy's RK -- another oddity to add to this already odd picture!

I absolutely do not think the badges are retouched and painted onto the picture. EVERYTHING is reversed on that picture, right down to the TINY eagle on the ribbon bar.

                        Ref. pic. #1

Maybe the guy is left handed, and didn't want the badges getting in his way

No they aren't - now the ribbon bar is reversed - isn't it?

So is the breast eagle. It's correctly placed but flying the wrong way!
